Andi loves peanut butter and cornflakes.
This morning when we were having breakfast, she saw her daddy eating toasted pandesal. She immediately asked for peanut butter the moment she saw the bread on the table. I usually don’t put the container of the peanut butter on the table so as to regulate her intake. I assumed that because she doesn’t see it, she would stop asking for it.
Sweetly, she asked me, “Mommy, want peanut butter please?”
I answered, “Sweetheart, look there is no peanut butter on the table.” She looked to her daddy and JA explained the same thing.
She thought for awhile and then she kept on asking, “Mommy want peanut butter please?” She literally did not stop asking until because of her persistence, I gave her some to put on her bread.
She does the same thing when she eats cornflakes. When she sees that her bowl is almost empty, she runs to me and asks if she can have more. And she knows there is more.
It is interesting to see her boldly ask for what she wants. And she seems quite sure that Mommy always has peanut butter and cornflakes (or whatever it is she needs/wants)… Our pantry for her has unlimited supply.
I wonder, do I have the same boldness that she has? Or have I stopped asking for those that seem not to be on the table, those that I do not see? Do I have the faith to believe everyday that my Father can and will provide for me? Do I have to persistence to keep on asking?
The truth is whenever Andi asks me or JA for anything, we enjoy it. We cherish us being her heroes and being her provider. We love it because she goes to us, and she trusts us.
I want to learn and relearn everyday the faith and persistence that little children have.
It is peanut butter and cornflakes for Andi. I wonder what is it for me. I am excited to ask. My Heavenly Father’s supply never runs out.
