I love food and I love spending time with family and friends. The past few weeks were filled with moments with family and friends and lots and lots of food. Here are some of my favorite foods and some of my favorite people too!
March 22, 2010 My friend Thammie and I finally got to fix a playgroup time for our little girls and a date time for us too. Her husband Dennis was with us, and some of our other friends joined us too. We had yummy donuts in Krispy Kreme at the Bonifacio High Street, and our kids had so much going around playing with dogs :-) This was the day too that I started getting interested in blogging after talking to Dennis and Thammie Sy. They are one of the most encouraging people I have met, and what a blessing to have them as friends! :-) And I love that Andi gets along with their daughters Alyanna and Mika.
March 30, 2010 A few of my friends (who are moms) and I meet once a month for lunch and playgroup too. This time, we had our lunch at the Mumars’ home. I was blessed personally not just with good food and company, but I learned a lot from LA and Macy about parenting. They shared with us what they have learned from parents whom we both look up too. (Pastor Steve and Deborah Murrell, Pastor Joey and Tita Marie Bonifacio and of course, our close friends Pastor Paolo and Jenn Punzalan). We shared with each other the parenting books that we have read too and what we like about them. I love learning and being sharpened by other people. And I was so happy to see their new baby, Mateo! There seems to be a new wave of baby boys, and they said I should consider having one soon! Hmmm, I’m considering. And I wanna have another one within the year! Yey, more babies! Children are such wonderful blessings from God.
March 31, 2010 A dear friend Chrina Cuna invited JA, Andi and I to taste the food in the restaurant that she was going to feature in Flippish, Establishment, located at the Fort Strip. We had a full course meal: Citrus Cured Salmon Sashimi with Seaweed Salsa, Clam Soup with White Wine Broth, Mixed Green Salad, Linguine Pasta with Anchovies Orange Cream, Beef Lychee Truffle, and Pistachio Jateu de Lupe. The salad was so refreshing! The pasta was something that I have never tasted before. I love to cook and for me pastas are the easiest to cook and learn, but this one in particular was unique in taste and so yummy! And because I love desserts, I was excited to taste their house specialty. The Pistacio Jateu de Lupe was Establishment’s signature dessert. This was made of twenty layers of paper-thin crepes filled with pistacio creme and oh how I loved it! Check out their website at this link: Establishment. It is a beautifully designed place. Only downside for me is that it is not a family place. It lacks the cozy, warm and fun feel that I usually like in places I eat in. It is more a place for business meetings and expats. But their food is excellent and not too pricey. So it might be worth to give it a try. Their chef, Chef Godfrey, a Filipino (used to be the chef of Robert de Niro’s restaurant in NY and was a personal chef of Beyonce! I wonder how and what she eats everyday…) Thank you Chrina for inviting us!
Later that afternoon, I met some ladies that I meet regularly. They have become good friends and our kids play with each other too. We meet to share about our lives and to pray for each other. This particular meeting was in Hobbes and Landes at the Bonifacio High Street. Our kids played while we had coffee and talked. And of course we had yogurt! Yummy. Fro-yo though only comes second to my favorite Red Mango! :-) My favorite yogurt is Green tea yogurt with red beans and almond mochi :-)
March 31, 2010 Another dear friend of mine, Danica, who is such a great cook, invited JA and I to have dinner in their lovely home. She prepared a feast for us! She is a wonderful host and is such fun company too. Among all the food she prepared, my favorite was the pan fried steak with fresh green peppercorn steak and the dessert–double dutch ice cream with minty chocolate biscuits :-) I love love mint chocolate!
April 2, 2010 My in-laws and I went to Greenfields in Laguna early that day. It is a beautiful place. It is located on the mountains so the place has a cool breeze and the fresh air is a treat! Food though at the clubhouse was not something to rave about.
Later that afternoon, we went to Tagaytay to relax, and have dinner, but the place was literally packed! Traffic was bad in the city-proper too! We decided to brave the traffic, leave, and go to Sta. Rosa, Laguna in time for dinner. One good thing about Tagaytay was getting some good ice cream while waiting in vain for the traffic to ease up. I got Haagen Daz Krispy Caramel Sandwich. It was the first time I tried it and it was delicious!
Ended that day with a quick dinner in Sta. Rosa. While most ate Darla Pizza in Yellow Cab, and my father in law got burger from Brother’s Burger, I chose one of my favorite comfort foods, Sharksfin Siomai, and Beancurd Roll with steamed rice, soysauce, and chili. I love dimsum!
April 3, 2010 We spent the day at the house/farm of our close friends, Jeje and Glenn Quizon. Their place is beautiful! And we love going there. We were with 3 more families. The kids had Easter Egg Hunt. It was Andi’s first. The kids painted eggs, swam, and played with each other. It was a nice change of atmosphere for them. Oh, what a fun day! All of us there love to eat, and there was so much food too. But my most favorite is their signature taragon tea! I never leave their place without having a cup or two.
Food, Family, Friends…Favorite things. Fun, fun, fun! :-)
