In my blog Big Dreams, Small Beginnings, one of my friends posted this comment. “Anns, this is my favorite blog to date! The ladies in my small group know you because when it comes to this topic, I always quote something you told me back when I was in college…”
Anyway, I asked her what was it that I told her years ago, and this is what she said. “I remember you pulling me aside and asking me, what was my dream in life? At that time, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I just knew that I wanted to make a difference in media. And then you told me, “You can never out-dream God. However big your dreams are, God’s dreams for you are even bigger.” And that stuck with me.”
I can’t remember this conversation anymore. But I believe it is worth sharing.
When we dream of something we can achieve on our own, we get the credit. When we have dreams that are from God, usually it is beyond us. And when those dreams (which seems impossible and even crazy) come to pass, God gets the credit.
That is why I am challenging myself to relive my dreams and even dream bigger. After all, He is a big God. I want to live, aim and hope for something that is beyond me. It makes me think of myself less, and depend more on God and what He can do through me.
Second thing that I want to share is that I have taken small steps of faith in pursuit of my dreams. I was telling my husband that I can’t write a message that I do not or cannot live out (this brings me to think sometimes if this blogging thing was a good idea, just kidding! :-))
Stepping out in faith is uncomfortable. Going into the unknown is always not easy. But I did anyway, and who knows where those steps will bring me. Yes, the fear of the unknown can bring about fear. But I am more afraid of being stagnant and not growing. Ultimately I am accountable for the life given to me and what I do with it. And at the end of my life I want to be able to say that I gave it my best. Pursuing our dreams and using the gifts and talents we are blessed with is indeed a stewardship issue.
Third thing that I cannot miss out on when discussing this topic is the principle of the seed. Every act, every thought, every word, every decision counts. Everything matters. What we sow, we will eventually reap someday. That is why it is critical to exercise careful judgement with how we live our lives. It is important too, to be intentional of what we want our lives to be.
If you are married, what do you sow in your marriage? If you dream of a strong and loving marriage, do you sow seeds of love and respect, or of doubt, selfishness and dissension? If you are a parent and you dream of raising up children who are secure and who have excellent character and who love God, do you sow seeds of prayer, affirmation and authenticity or seeds of passivity, discouragement and dishonesty? If you dream of doing something great with your life, what seeds are you sowing now?
Someday you will either reap a life full of blessings or a destructive, miserable life. You get to choose how it is going to be for you.
And to those who are taking little steps, planting small seeds of faith (like me), do not lose heart. All seeds do grow. You are not waiting in vain. We can have hope because it is not us who will take us to the destinies that He has for us. It is God who makes everything grow. And He makes everything beautiful in His time.
Keep sowing seeds towards your dreams. You will look back someday and you will not regret it. And it will all be worth it.

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 corinthians 2:9 (NLT)
I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace… Romans 4:16 (NIV)
Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:32 (NIV)
God allows people to step into our “territory” (lives) – or us into theirs – so we can plant seeds that He can then water and cause to grow. =D Thanks for being a big part of my life At. As God expands your territory, it not only brings Him honor, but also brings you delight!! And I know you’re oh so delighted! Hehe! =D
