Last Tuesday, I came across this book Love Beyond Reason by John Ortberg. He is the author of one of my favorite books, Life You’ve Always Wanted. I can’t wait to get a copy and read it.
At this time of the year wherein we commemorate the death and suffering of Jesus and His resurrection, it is inevitable that most people will talk about the cross.
The title of the book I mentioned encompasses what the cross is to me. It is LOVE BEYOND REASON. I cannot and will never be able to fully comprehend this love that was so willingly given to me. I did not and will never deserve it. All I know is that I was changed because of this love. The moment I embraced by faith the cross and what Jesus did for me, my life was never the same.
And His love caused me to love Him back. And there was no other response that I could give but to give Him my all, because that is what He deserves.
This Love changed me, completed me, healed me, restored me, and gave me hope for the future.
I am forever grateful.
And I dare not forget and look back.
Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Romans 5:8 God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
