I am in a season of waiting in a lot of areas in my (and my family’s) life. I have learned to accept that waiting is a part of life. Even when this season of waiting comes to an end, most probably soon enough, another one will start. I am pretty sure too that everyone goes through a season of waiting. You may be in one now, just as I am. Question I wanna pose to you is, are you waiting in vain?
I have been reading, listening to podcasts and messages, and praying about this whole waiting thing. But if I were to summarize and probably try to squeeze it all in into two thoughts, here would they be:
1. Wait on Who, not on what. I have learned that waiting on the what and when always disappoints, and always frustrates. Truth is, unless we learn how to wait on God, we will always be waiting in vain. Everything in the world changes, but God is and forever will be the same. He is always good. He is always faithful. So if my trust and my confidence is in Him, I know that even the things I do not understand will work out for the good, and He will give me what is best.
2. Look at your circumstance through God’s eyes. More often if not always, our perspective are not just jaded but it is also very nearsighted. Being a mom to my 2 year old daughter made me understand the wisdom that comes with waiting. Left to her own, Andi wants everything her way, and everything that she wants given to her the moment she wants it. But as a loving parent, I have to deny her and often make her wait. Because I know what is best for her. Even good things have to be given at the right time for them not to be destructive. And since when was character and maturity developed overnight?
So this is my point. If we only stop and think, and pray whenever we find ourselves waiting, and ask God to show us what He is doing in us and in our circumstances while we wait, we will be amazed what a change of perspective can do to us. We can learn that the season of waiting can be a time of preparation. It can also be a time of pruning or a time of developing our character. It can even be a time wherein God is moving around our circumstances and positioning us to receive the fullest of His blessings. It can be a time wherein God may want us to learn how to trust in Him and stretch our faith more.
Waiting time is never wasted time. The questions you only need to ask yourselves are: 1. Are you (really) waiting on God, or is your focus on everything else (besides Him) as you wait? 2. Do you see your time of waiting the way God sees it? Because if you do, you probably will struggle, strive, hurry things up and whine (all of which I have done) less.
So my dear friends, let’s all (as we trust and surrender) enjoy the wait!
I’ve been going in and out of waiting season too, Ate Anna. And you’re right, it never stops, when season of waiting comes to an end, another one will start.
Sharing you a beautiful poem that I read about waiting. :D http://fionyfions.blogspot.com/2010/08/wait.html
