Many say that memorizing scripture or bible verses is hard. Maybe it is, but it is definitely possible. And if a two year old can do it, anybody can! :-)
I saw a video shown in a church service I attended three years ago showing I think a three year old girl reciting Psalm 23 to her daddy. I was pregnant to Andi then. And I got excited over the idea of teaching the scriptures to my future baby. I would then say out loud bible verses to Andi when she was in my womb and since she was born. I would just repeat it day in and day out. When I saw that she could memorize songs and books (at 1 1/2yrs. old), I took it as as signal that I could make her memorize verses too. And when she turned two, she was able to follow me and finish the verses to this specific Psalm.
We as parents are responsible for what we fill the minds of our children with. We have the power to control and regulate what they watch, what they listen to, and what they learn. The tongue has the power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21). Our words (what we confess, what we tell them, what we teach them, what they hear us say) are powerful. Those words will fill them and mold them whether we like it or not. And whatever is inside of them will come out. The words they learn to say now, the songs they sing now, what they memorize now will direct and set the course of their lives.
Teach, teach, teach the word of God to your kids, as early as now. The best time to do it is when they are young. Start them young. And parents, let’s set the example. We ourselves have to get into the word of God and set a lifestyle of reading the word and praying, so our children have something to emulate and follow.
I want to leave to Andi a legacy of a love for the word of God. And my hope is that she’s going to carry that for the rest of her life.

Very well said, Ate Anna!
