I was looking at my husband and my 2 year old daughter this morning and this is what hit me. Being with them and loving them has increased my capacity to love in ways even I cannot understand. It is just like my heart literally expanded for the past 4 years and 4 months that I have been married and for the past 2 years and 8 months that I have been a mom.
Our church is going through a series entitled “Love Life” which discusses Love, Marriage, and Sex. Last Sunday was about Marriage and Pastor Paul Barker entitled his preaching “What is Missing in Paradise?” He explained how we are created, wired, and meant for community. He also said that we experience God in a deeper and fuller way through the relationships that we have. In my opinion, the most important relationships we can have are the relationships with our spouse and children.
I realize this to be true. I experience God in ways I have not known before now that I am married and now that I am a mother. And I know too that I don’t need to understand it to know it to be real.
The relationships that God has blessed me with have made me know Him more. And knowing Him more, and receiving and experiencing His love and grace each day has increased supernaturally, my ability to love. (All ability of which to begin with ALL came from Him).
My heart has gotten bigger and I know that there will be extra room for much more!
